5 Iconic Foodie Spots in Oahu You Can’t Miss
If it’s your first time visiting Oahu, you absolutely have to check out these iconic spots. While the island has a diverse food scene with endless options to explore, there are a few staples that are simply a must during your trip!
Starting at #5 - Sunrise Shack
Sunrise Shack 📍 Sunset Beach, North Shore Oahu
The Sunrise Shack is instantly recognizable by its bright yellow color, and it’s a must-visit spot for anyone craving açai bowls, smoothies, and coffee. While it can be a bit on the pricier side, they’re food is made with real, fresh, and natural ingredients. But hey you’re on vacation, the vibe alone makes it worth a stop. Sit outside, soak up the sunshine, and snap a few cute pics.
Originally Sunrise Shack started on a small plumeria farm on Oahu’s North Shore, created by surfers raised in Hawaii Alex, Travis, and Koa Smith, along with their friend Koa Rothman.
While there are a few Sunrise Shack locations across the island, the North Shore spots are my favorite. They’re close to the beach and other foodie gems, perfect for a full island adventure.
#4 Ted’s Bakery
Ted’s Bakery 📍 North Shore, Oahu Hawaii
Ted's Bakery is a must-stop for anyone visiting North Shore, Oahu. The menu also features hearty plate lunches, sandwiches, and breakfast items, making it a great spot for any time of day.
Founded right on the North Shore, Ted’s has become a local favorite over the years. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or indulging in a slice of pie after a day at the beach, Ted's hits the spot.
I recommend swinging by for a slice of their famous pie and taking it to-go for a beach picnic. It's the perfect treat to enjoy while soaking in the beach.
#3 Leonard’s Bakery
Leonard’s Bakery 📍Honolulu, Oahu Hawaii
Leonard’s Bakery is famous for its malasadas (warm, sugar-coated Portuguese donuts) that are made fresh to order. Whether you stick with the classic sugar or try the filled flavors like custard or haupia, they always a hit.
Opened in 1952, Leonard’s has been a local favorite for decades, blending Portuguese traditions with island vibes. The iconic red and white storefront is as charming as the treats inside, making it a go-to spot for both locals and tourists.
If you’re staying near Waikiki, it’s super convenient for a quick breakfast or snack. Grab a box of malasadas & coffee to-go and hit the road!
#4 North Shore Shrimp Truck
North Shore Shrimp Truck 📍 Oahu, Hawaii
Garlic shrimp trucks are a staple on Oahu, and they’re hands down one of my favorite meals after a day at the beach. There are so many great spots to choose from!
If you’re near Turtle Bay, check out the Kahuku shrimp trucks on the North Shore. This area has plenty of food trucks to explore, plus some cool souvenirs to browse.
If you’re closer to Waimea or Sunset Beach, my favorite spot is North Shore Shrimp Truck. Their garlic shrimp is amazing, and it’s located right across from Shark’s Cove, where you can go snorkeling. It’s also near Sunrise Shack and other local vendors, so it’s a great stop to refuel and explore.
#5 Off the Hook Poke Market
Off the Hook Poke Market 📍 Manoa Rd Honolulu, Oahu
Poke is a must when you’re in Hawaii! Just like garlic shrimp, there are tons of places to grab poke on Oahu, including your local Foodland. While those are solid options, you’ve got to try Off the Hook Poke—it’s sooooooo good. Their warm green rice and poke flavors are amazing. I recommend trying their Shoyu Ahi, Spicy Ahi, and Hawaii Style poke.
If you’re planning a trip to Manoa Falls, this spot is perfect since it’s right on the way. The line can be a little long, but trust me, it’s worth the wait!
